Highland Titles Consultation for Tree Thinning License Application

Shown below is a map of the areas that Highland Titles is planning on thinning to coincide with some Larch removal due to an infection of Phytophthora Ramorum on the estate. The work is scheduled for October-December 2024 if permission is granted.

They're hopeful that thinning the forest here will begin the process of opening up the currently dark coniferous forest and allow light onto the forest floor.  This will in turn encourage a wider range of flora and fauna in the area, making it a more interesting place for people to enjoy.  The footpath will also benefit in higher light levels.

The operation will be done on a small scale with the felling being done by hand with chainsaws and a small-scale forwarding machine being employed to extract the timber down to the main estate carpark for onward haulage to market.
