MCR Pathways are looking for mentors for young people facing challenges
The MCR mentoring programme works with young people across the country. MCR train and match volunteer mentors with a young person to meet for just one hour a week and provide an encouraging, listening ear. Mentors support their young person to focus in school and build their confidence and aspirations. Mentoring takes place in school, during term time but, in addition to the impact on young people, our volunteers also gain so much, such as personal growth, enhanced leadership and communication skills, boosted morale, and a sense of fulfilment. We believe that this is something you might find of interest and hope you might help join us in our brand new What’s Stopping You? campaign.
Our aim is to inspire potential mentors by highlighting the diverse range of individuals who are already making a difference within the MCR Pathways community. The campaign addresses common concerns and misconceptions that often prevent people from registering: the time required (whether they can fit it into their work schedules), concerns about life experience (being too old or young), worries about the skills required (lacking experience or qualifications), and doubts about the impact of mentoring (whether mentoring actually has a positive impact).
If someone wants to sign up, they should simply visit our website where they are invited to watch a short information session to share all the positive outcomes that being a mentor can bring.
Here’s how you can find out more:
- Visit the MCR webpage: We have built a new webpage with lots of great new content. We hope you like it mcrpathways.org/whats-stopping-you
- Read our mentor stories: We’ve collated some mentor stories which you can find in our Campaign Resource Kit.
Your partnership and support will be instrumental in our success. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of young people who are waiting for a mentor.
