Actions August - September 2025

• Request: Extend the Play Park. The play park at the hall has been extended in the past couple of years and is well used.The play park in Duror is well used and is maintained by the council. No further action required.

• Request: Maintain Seton Bridge (near the school). Becky Coope is arranging a working party to clear the bridge this October. If you would like to be involved, email dkccinfo@gmail.com.

• Request: Ensure we have enough bins. There are three action points on this.
  
  • Lea contacted Highland Council a couple of months ago to ask if they could put a bin in at the Achindarroch Forestry car park. They have agreed in principle. This was followed up this month, but because of the recent bin change process they are too busy to do it just now. It is on their to-do list though.
  • Lea has been monitoring the Cuil Bay bins. These have been graffitied recently and are still being used by some local people for fly tipping.She's asked if the Highland Council can arrange for the large lids to be locked, so only the small lids are opened - which will hopefully prevent some of the larger objects (armchairs etc) being put in there. Someone appears to have used paint remover to get rid of the graffiti (assuming this is our ranger, but will check).
  • Audra has reviewed the existing dog poo bin locations. There are several dog poo bins between Cuil Bay and the Kentallen and Duror Community Centre.  Both Cuil Bay and the Community centre have waste bins which can be used.  Dog poo bins are located as follows:
    
    • Opposite the primary school on the cycle/ multi user track (near to the bridge)
    • At Achindarroch road on the opposite side of the entrance to the caravan park
    • On the cycle / multi user track just off Achindarroch road
    • On the cycle /multi user track not far past the turn off to the Community Centre /Lagnaha and before the gorge.
      
      This is considered sufficient at present.

• Request: Provide info re walking routes. Audra and Becky have contacted FLS about putting notice board up at entrance to North Glen Duror with map of walking routes and forestry info. They are now researching the cost of putting a board up.

• Request: Maintain Sustrans route on FLS ground from Achindarroch Road to the old Railway Bridge. Becky has been liaising with Sustrans and FLS, who have now agreed in principle to supply materials for volunteers to carry out interim repairs on the roadway.
